Big Beat Challenge

The Big Beat Challenge is a global competition that will see teams of world-class scientists competing for a research award of up to £30 million. International, multi-disciplinary groups of researchers were asked to identify and propose a transformational solution to a significant problem in any heart or circulatory disease. The most compelling proposal will win the funding, and the opportunity to accelerate breakthroughs that could transform lives across the globe.

I was tasked to design 4 illustrations that had movable elements to bring the inventions to life.

CureHeart

The researchers will develop a treatment that targets and silences the faulty genes responsible for cardiomyopathies – diseases of the heart muscle that can lead to sudden death or heart failure at an early age.

Hybrid Heart

The researchers plan to create a solution for heart failure by developing a soft robotic heart that consists of a soft robotic shell, artificial muscles and sensors to enable natural motion.

Echoes

The team will develop wearable technology that can be used in daily life to capture more data than ever before.

iMap

Using cutting-edge technologies and human data to build a detailed map and understanding of atherosclerotic plaques – the fatty deposits that develop in arteries.
